Isn’t it amazing how your whole day can be changed – in a positive way – when someone simply does something kind for you? A simple note, taking the time to really listen when they ask how you are, or perhaps bringing you a cup of coffee at your desk can all make a sharp change in your attitude for the day. Recently, I received an email from someone I’ve never met, letting me know that someone in our church family did something kind on their behalf. Here is what she had to say:
“David,
Someone within the church did a small act of kindness! What is unique about it is that it came unexpectedly. I had been sitting in the beauty shop chair and was getting hungry. This person I had been talking with knew I was hungry from the conversation I had with them earlier. Next thing I knew they walked in the beauty salon and carried in fresh cold milk with warm blue berry muffins. Before I realize it, they were gone. My hunger needs had been met. I was not expecting to be the recipient of a small act of kindness.
What a wonderful blessing it was.
Blessings!”
A few weeks ago we handed out some cards for you to use throughout the week. They serve as a reminder to us to have our eyes opened to such opportunities, and they provide the recipients of such kindness an opportunity to say “thank you!” We hope to compile a booklet in the future with these stories as testimonies of what a small act of kindness can do. I pray you will join me in this endeavor!
