A very special message this Sunday…and one of our teenage young men will be helping me! DO NOT miss this Sunday!

“May the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you.” (1 Thes. 3:12) Take a minute and examine yourself. How loving are you to those around you? Family? Friends? Co-workers? Neighbors? People who have a different political opinion, skin color, or faith? We should be reminded of this truth from time to time, that God loves everyone—democrats, republicans, libertarians, the Chinese, Australians, Africans, Brazilians, and librarians! That person you are so mad at right now…yep, He loves them too! Perfectly! So, if He can love that person, if He loves “those kinds of people”, shouldn’t you and I love them? In all of our gaining of knowledge, in all of our growing, let’s learn and grow in love. How more Christ-like can we ever be than when we love as He loves? Love God with all your heart, soul and mind. And…love your neighbor! Abound in love!!!

See you Sunday!

"Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works
Which You have done;
And Your thoughts toward us
Cannot be recounted to You in order;
If I would declare and speak of them,
They are more than can be numbered." Ps. 40:5

Through the years it has been a practice of mine in marital counseling to give a particular homework assignment in our initial meeting. Typically the couple want to air out their laundry list of complaints, which they feel is long and over-burdensome. So I let them air it out, and then no more complaining. Ever. The homework they are given is simple, but eye-opening. "Write down a list of every single thing your mate does for you and every single thing about them that you appreciate." You can imagine the looks I get at times! But the point is clear -- sometimes we get so focused on one thing, or a handful of things we consider negative that we make so big that we neglect to see the hundreds, thousands of things that are positive.

The Psalmist had it right here when he spoke of God's wonderful works as "many" and "more than can be numbered". How many reasons did you have to smile today? The gift of a sunrise, a fresh batch of God's mercy, food, shelter, clothing, coffee with a friend, a phone call with someone you love, the laughter from a great memory, the hug of someone who cares, the site to read, the ears to hear "I love you", the smell of the rose and the taste of melting butter on warm bread...all and so many more great reasons to smile! God has done so much for you, and He is doing for you now a multitude of wonderful things. Take a pen and paper and just start writing the many things God is doing for you and just see how your gaze is lifted, your day is brightened and your burden in lightened. God is so good! Remember today the wonderful works of God!

See you Sunday!

The story is told of a very kind and gracious lady who taught Bible school in her church. One week she had her straight hair permed in to a curly style. The next Sunday in class she noticed that 4 yr. old Steven, who was usually cheerful, looked sad and bewildered. "Is something wrong, Steven?" Mary asked him.

"Your hair," he mumbled.

"You noticed!" said Mary. "I just had a permanent and I love it!"

"You do?" whispered Steven. "Have you seen it?"

Well, beauty certainly is in the eye of the beholder! Have you forgotten that God loves you? In His eyes, you are stunningly beautiful. From the opening words of Genesis to the closing words of the Revelation, we hear God saying to us over and over in hundreds of ways, “I love you!” Open up His love letter to you – the Bible – and hear Him whisper just how precious you are in his sight. No greater love exists than a man laying down his life for his friends!

See you Sunday!

A Note from Beth Moore:
"God confronted me with the truth that though I had believed in Him for many years, I had hardly begun to believe Him. He made something clear to me that He has sent me forth to say to you: God is so much more than we have yet acknowledged and experienced. He is capable of tremendously more than we have witnessed. I have become utterly convinced that we see so little primarily because we believe Him for so little. Here's the great news: God wants to change all that!"

Zig Ziglar tells the story of boy that went with his mother to the old general store. He liked to sneak away from his mother and when no one was looking he would dip his finger into the large barrel of molasses.

The storekeeper caught him doing this and decided to teach the boy a lesson. He picked up the boy by his britches and dunked him head first into the barrel of molasses and then set him out on the front porch of the store. But instead of crying the boy was out there praying, “God, give me the tongue to equal this opportunity.”

Gotta love that boys attitude! Seems to me we could all use a regular attitude check. It’s an easy thing to fall into the rut of complaining, going from day to day as though we have been sucking persimmons and tripping over our lower lip. Everyone could use a smile, let’s give some away this week! Won’t take a dime out of your pocket or a moment of your over-crowded schedule. Just choose to smile…you’ll find it contagious!

See you Sunday!
