“Amazing grace” is a term we throw around pretty frequently as Christians. But lately I’ve been pondering, “just how amazing is God’s grace?” As the thought impressed me to write on this question, an unwelcomed answer instantly came back to me, “how dare I think that I could answer that question”. It causes me to laugh, and to cry. John Newton certainly gave us insight in his great hymn “Amazing Grace”. But there is no way to concisely offer an answer that completely encompasses the vastness and greatness of His amazing grace! His grace is a vast and great and multi-faceted as everyone’s own personal story of His grace. Not confined to salvation, but His constant acts of grace in our lives.

I’d like to ask you, how has God shown His amazing grace to you – recently? For me, God has ordained major changes I would never have asked for or pursued, but His grace has afforded me opportunity to meet people and share the love and compassion of Christ with some whom I would never have had the opportunity to minister to…had His grace not changed some of my life circumstances. I’ve met some wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ with great compassion for the hurting, and I’ve met some whose stories of pain, loss and suffering would melt the hardest of hearts. Every person, every story is an added dimension of understanding of God’s amazing grace for me. So, think about it a few minutes. Share with me God’s recent work of grace in your life. It truly is “amazing grace”!

I don't have the exact quote with me as I write these lines, but in our Bible study this past Sunday evening John Piper made a statement to this effect: "A child may look at a Michelangelo but prefer to go back to the comic strip." I find that a description with striking clarity of the church today. Yes, I said it, the church. How little the common church member truly "sees" of the beauty of God Himself. I'm not referring to the beauty of His creation, I'm speaking of the Creator.

David wrote, "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;" (Ps. 34:8) Paul prayed, "the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power"(Eph. 1:18, 19) I wonder what David would say and what Paul would pray if they sat amongst the members of our churches of today? Pray today that a passion would begin deep in your soul that the "eyes of your heart" would behold the beauty and holiness of God! What transformation would take place in your personal life, and in your home, and in your church!

Youth Bible Study: Tonight, we are beginning a new series entitled “Life Rollercoaster”. Looking forward to tackling some interesting and tough subjects. Mom and dad, if your teen ever needs a ride on Wednesday nights, please let us know. We will work with you to provide transportation.

(From Isaiah 40) 10 Behold, the Lord God shall come with a strong hand, And His arm shall rule for Him; Behold, His reward is with Him, And His work before Him. 11 He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young.

12 Who has measured the waters F55 in the hollow of His hand, Measured heaven with a span And calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales And the hills in a balance? 13 Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, Or as His counselor has taught Him? 14 With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him, And taught Him in the path of justice? Who taught Him knowledge, And showed Him the way of understanding? 15 Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, And are counted as the small dust on the scales; Look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing. 16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, Nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering. 17 All nations before Him are as nothing, And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.

18 To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him? 19 The workman molds an image, The goldsmith overspreads it with gold, And the silversmith casts silver chains. 20 Whoever is too impoverished for such a contribution Chooses a tree that will not rot; He seeks for himself a skillful workman To prepare a carved image that will not totter. 21 Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? 22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

Our God is indescribably AWESOME!
